About

Hi All….My name is Jada Jones. I am an Alabama based public historian. I hold a master’s degree in public history and a bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology. My approach to history and story telling is very much anthropological. It is rooted in my desire to understand and appreciate the vast differences in our experiences as human beings on this planet. Human first, history second. History, an artifact, is derived from the human experience. It does not exist in its own right. This blog is a celebration of and homage to, all of the black people who have survived and thrived in Alabama. We also remember and honor those who, by the way of being black in Alabama, were taken from this earthly realm. Previous generations fought for us, now we must now fight for them.
